Blade Runner: Black Lotus Brings Back The Replicants in CGI Animation

The replicants have returned, but this time they’re CGI-animated. At the Comic-Con@Home panel, Adult Swim and Crunchyroll debuted a new trailer for Blade Runner: Black Lotus.

The new 13-episode CGI-animated series is set in Los Angeles in 2032, between the events of Blade Runner (1982) and Blade Runner 2049, and is set between the events of Blade Runner (1982) and Blade Runner 2049. Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki, who previously worked on Netflix’s Ghost in the Shell: SAC 2045 and Ultraman, are directing Black Lotus.

The official summary for the animated series is as follows:

BLADE RUNNER: BLACK LOTUS, an Adult Swim and Crunchyroll original animated series based on the award-winning and critically acclaimed Blade Runner film franchise, will premiere this fall. This tense thirteen-episode series is directed by Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama and produced by Alcon Entertainment and animation studio Sola Digital Arts, with Shinichiro Watanabe directing.
