Retro sci-fi horror Stranger Things has been named the best Netflix series.
The only stipulations being that it had to have a minimum of two seasons. Oh, and remember that not everything you watch on Netflix is actually a Netflix series. Some things are just, you know, on Netflix.
The first heat of the vote pitted Stranger Things, Sex Education, Schitt’s Creek and GLOW against each other, with the Duffer Brothers’ sci-fi series coming out on top with 53.7 percent to take it through to the next round.
Next up, Ricky Gervais’ black comedy-drama After Life managed to beat off Better Call Saul, The Umbrella Academy and Orange is the New Black, racking up 45.4 percent, before Ozark also cruised into the final after topping the third vote with 50.4 percent, knocking Mindhunter, The End of the F***ing World and Bojak Horseman out of the running.
Finally, round four saw Money Heist, Big Mouth, Narcosand F is For Family go head-to-head, with the hugely popular dramatisation of Pablo Escobar’s rise to infamy winning out with 45 percent.
That took Stranger Things, After Life, Ozark and Narcosinto the running to become top dog:
While it was pretty close, Stranger Things eventually clinched it with 33.9 percent of the final vote.
After Life came in second place with a respectable 27.8 percent, followed by Ozark (19.3 percent) and Narcos (19 percent).
Despite the fact that the people have spoken, as with all public votes, the results proved to be a bit divisive.
One person tweeted: “How the hell is Ozark last? Some people don’t deserve Netflix.”
Someone else commented: “Stranger Things is a kids show, grow up.”
Another wrote: “How the f*** are all those beating Narcos? Get to f***.”
Taking a more diplomatic approach, a fourth wrote: “All of the above…. love them all.”
Thankfully, the final results don’t affect your ability to catch up on your favourite, as they’re all available to watch on Netflix UK now.
